The Everett Fire Company, No. 1 was officially established by an ordinance passed by the Everett Borough Council in 1876. Since that time, the company has offered continuous invaluable services and has been the object of vast community pride. A Silsby Steamer No. 5 was purchased for firefighting in July 1880 at a cost of $4,000.00. In 1880, the first fire station was built on North Spring Street. The building was shared with a school at the time. In 1883, the borough council built a new fire station on a lot at the corner of Ridge Avenue and Mechanic Street. In 1955-56, the fire company built a new engine room and that engine room was incorporated into a new station that was built in 1971. This station remains on the original site of the 1883 station. The Everett Fire Company, No. 1 takes great pride in being the only Bedford County Fire Company with all white apparatus.
